Simple and Clean

My life has been feeling busy lately. Full of surprises around every corner. The above photo was taken on the 23rd for the clothing company Triple L's Clothing. They are located in Columbus and traveled here to Cincinnati to shoot with me in the urban setting downtown Cincy has to offer :) The shoot turned out fantabulous! Mixed with just enough rain and sunshine on a hot summer's day. Amazing.

My gallery wall is still featured at Art on the Levee in Newport until mid September. I need to restock some of my images down there and I will be finally adding a bigger piece (12x24) to mix it up a bit on my wall. Thank you to those of you who have shown me some love and support! It really means the world to me <3

I FINALLY beat Kingdom Hearts for the very first time! I know this game has been out for like 10 years... but it's still amazing! And I'm not going to lie, the ending got me all teary eyed... and this song has been embedded into my soul.

I planning to do a photography "field trip" with some friends at the beginning of September. I want to try and invite some of my photographer friends along, internet friends, people who are wanting to learn, and just have a hang out photography day. I would love to try and shoot in the old powder factory but I'll need to see ahead of time if it's possible to actually go inside without getting arrested. lol. Otherwise, a nice park will have to suffice!

Last Known Surroundings

Did some writing last night into the a.m.'s of early morning. It's been a long time since I felt the need to write poetry but it always comes to me at times when I feel intense emotions of any kind because sometimes, it's the best way for me to tell my stories of life.

So, here it goes.

The tides are turning
and I'm about to fall.
The drought is ending
and Her floods grow tall.
Running, I wait and become withered where I stand.
To a small blur of nothing sinking in the sand.
I wait, running into the shadows of light
to the secrets of discovery that have given me sight.
Wake me from this nightmare!
I promise I can no longer care.
For this drought is ending.
And me? I am falling.

Falling into the catacombs of existence
we have become afraid of ourselves.
Withered by our drought, you must awaken
for Her floods are coming
and you have a chance to be forsaken.
Running, I wait in the softly sinking sand
as she tries to break my unforgiving stance.
I wait, running into the shadows of darkness
as I start to wonder Can I Ever Be Saved?
Because me? I am only falling.

Rested, I wait against the unbridled waves
as my heart dives deep and caves.
I wait rested, as my soul begins to dive
taking its next leap into a new life.
Rested, I wait to be born to a new way
cleansed from the drought with nothing to say.

My heart is weak. My soul renewed.
I am but me in this massive chaos of life.

And me? I am Reborn.

.299.

.299. by Brooke Townsend
.299., a photo by Brooke Townsend on Flickr.

I have no space, no room to move around
And this box is getting smaller
I'm trying to get out

How did I get so far from where I was?
When did I decide to lose my way?
Who have I become…

I got a new low, all 52 cards in a row
I see now that I won't let go
No I won't let go

Well who am I, a cold shoulder left to cry
You feel bad, well so do I
Yeah so do I

Middle Class Rut - New Low

Unpacked FINALLY! I literally laid in here for about 10 minutes taking a break and thought... this is what I should use for my 365 today!

One of these days, it would be awesome to actually live from a suitcase, travel, and experience this feeling all the time.

One day.

Lenny & Ashley's Wedding

Although I was not the photographer for my cousin Lenny's wedding, I still brought my little baby along (sweet little 50D) to get some snippits of the rehearsal, ceremony, and reception :) All these here are completely RAW and unedited. How do I feel about that? Almost like I've thrown myself naked into the middle of a busy road shaken with nervousness and pumped with adrenaline from the fear of it all.

HA. Just kidding. It's actually quite rejuvenating to know that some of these turned out perfect in such ways I didn't feel need to edit! Congrats to you Lenny :) I hope you and Ashley the best of luck in your lives together! (*play cheesy drum roll*)

Ocala National Forest, FL

During the midweek last week on my vacation in Florida, I had the privilege to learn about a place in Florida called the Ocala Nation Forest which holds the location of Juniper Springs. Their website describes the place better than I could:

"The setting is unlike any other found in the United States. With hundreds of tiny bubbling springs and massive springs gushing out of crevices in the earth beneath a dense canopy of palms and oaks, an oasis within the heart of the desert-like Big Scrub."

And walking along a beautiful trail, we came to a small bridge that reached over one of the beautiful bubbling springs giving me the sight of the clearest, natural blue water I have ever laid my eyes on. To get some decent shots, I climbed over the bridge and climbed down a very narrow path of rocks putting myself in the small spring of water.

I looooove tropical climates. Although it can be very hot and uncomfortable at times, the plant and animal life is absolutely amazing to stumble upon. It's so different than what I've grown up with here in the midwest it's always refreshing http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifto escape into.

And randomness for the night: My uncle showed me a band recently that I have fallen in love with called Middle Class Rut. One of their later songs called New Low has been stuck in my head today. And also, my uncle can make a mean steak. One of these days I want to cook with him because he used to be a chef in one of the biggest resturaunts in Louisville. He knows a thing or two I could learn :)

Florida - Cellie Pics

I've decided to do something a little differently ((while on this 16 hour journey home I neeeeeed entertainment!!)). I usually never post cell phone pictures anywhere other than my personal facebook but if I do say so myself, I am pretty amazed at how beautiful some of them turned out. Cell phone cameras have come such a long way since their creation and I really do admire it having a phone that's on the leading end of it right now. I remember when my first camera phone took 3 seconds to actually take a very crappy, badly colored, and blurred photo. Now, my camera phone is better than my first digital camera from only a few years ago.

So, here are a few of the lovelies my little cell phone snipped to capture my short bits of curiosity when my lovely DSLR wasn't around.
