The Happiness Project - Day 2

Well, this will be a quick post because I'm about to head off to work. I actually technically took these pictures yesterday but since I'm going to this place again today it kind of fits :) The mall I work in is definatly feeling the economic downfall these days. Out of 135 slots where stores could be prospering there is a whopping total of 20 stores (including the food court)that now reside in the dying mall. At the heigh of the day when I arrived yesterday at 2pm, this is what the center of the mall looks like.

And right before I got out of my car, I turned around to look around in my car to make sure I had everything and my yoda that rides around in my car with me fell off my books that are still trying to find their way onto my shelves and he looked so funny to me! Haha, it actually made me laugh. Not gonna lie.

Off to work now! Have a great day everyone.

The Happiness Project - Day 1

So I've decided that I'm going to create a mini "Happiness Project" for myself and for each day of the month I'm going to post 1 picture that uniquely stands out that day. It's so easy to see the negatives in the world around you so I'm going to make myself see all the best in what is given to me in everyday life. It's always good to appreciate the time you are given in this life. After all, it's why they call the present a gift ;)

So to start this project off I'm going to mention my walk in the park. It was absolutely gorgeous and there was still snow fallen in the woods and I came across a frozen lake. On this frozen lake there were animal prints that scurried across the ice and I became enchanted. Absolutely gorgeous :)

Here is another adition to my discoveries through the park. The shot really isn't much on its own but I thought it was amazing how perfectly the stick fell into the snow. Mother Nature sure has a way of doing things.

So, despite the doctor visit today wasn't half bad :) Treated myself to some Penn Station and had a good day at work. Looking forward to a MUCH better week (it really couldn't get much worse than last week's hovering cloud lol)

Hope you all have a great night! And stay tuned for daily updates :)

Latching onto Inspiration

So I've caught onto a lot of inspiration lately. Been taking a lot of me time and getting a lot of stuff sorted and straightened up. A good friend (who is also a fellow photographer) sent me some prints in the mail and they arrived yesterday! :D It totally made my day. They look AMAZING. But I have many plans to make this year much better than the last and that's refocusing my business, myself, and my photography in general in the direction I want it to go.

I watched something last night that I feel the entire world should see. It filled my heart with hope and inspiration to hear someone in POLITICS to talk so honestly, and vividly about our country... and technically, he's not even a politician. Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVaegVlDUPs... can't seem to find the entire speech but all the parts are connected to that one. EVERYONE should watch that. Especially if you're american.

So anyways, enough of my propaganda ;) I've been doing a lot of self-portraits lately probably due to my constant reflection upon myself lol and been breaking out new fun and creative ideas that have been floating around in my head for a long time. Here is some of my most recent work!

And as always, add me on flickr if you are there :)
I love seeing what other people are up to.
Have a great week everyone!

I haven't died, I promise!

So it's been 4 months since I last posted! That is crazy insane. A lot has happened to me in the past 4 months which is why I never really got around to blogging much. Internet use was at an all time low, worked the majority of my weeks 50+ hours, and nearly lost all direction to my photography to be honest. The problem was I got a job as a photographer working for a cheap company selling packages I didn't even agree with. I wasn't allowed to promote my own work at all and if I did I would get fired. So I left that job and got a new one now working at Gamestop which I find a lot more fun and more me than any job I've worked before. I'm working my way to getting more hours but right now, I'm using the time that I have off to expand and create my photography and redesign it on a whole new level. Take it onto the path that it was meant to carry itself and live my life through my lens like I did in the early days. Might sound a little preechy but hey, life is a roller coaster and riding on its ups and downs is definatly the experience that is truly unforgettable. So here is a collection of my most recent work from the month of January :)

This was with the beautiful model Melanie Hernandez who is also a photographer herself! She was amazing to work with and very fun. Check her out on Model Mayhem and see some of her work here :)

This is a self portrait I did for the new year. I created it as an expression to the reflections I've been making about my life and letting go certain parts of it to move on to bigger and better things.

I have also repurchased my domain name so I now own www.brooketownsendphotography.com again :) I'm going to try and get an actual new website designed this year that includes some type of flash slideshows and animations that feature the best of my work. Right now it forwards you to my myspace page :)

But anyways expect more posts from me from now on! At the very least I'll at least do a monthly update. Have a great week everyone!

Brittany Dyan

Well about a month ago now I got together with Brittany once again to do another creative photoshot. This time it was set to a futuristic theme and I found a really intriguing park nearby for the location! Brittany did an amazing job once again and I have her to thank for how amazing her pictures turned out : ) Take a look.

Jenny Regali

So it's been a crazy month! My current living situation has put me without a computer or internet this entire month... but I have finally obtained full internet access so it's time for some updates..! A little over a month ago now I got together with a model from Chicago named Jenni Regali from MM. The photoshoot was very spontaneous and unplanned but I think they turned out really well for the setting, lighting, and hasteyness of it. And seeing downtown Cincinnati is always a beautiful sight at night : )

If you are interested, I've also been keeping up with my self portrait project (52 Weeks)... you should check it out here... !
More updates later,
Brooke
p.s. Hope you all have been doing well!
