Snow Day

Winter storms hit the midwest very often in the winter time but ones like today are once a year kind of thing. 2 days ago it started by snowing slightly. Then the sun came out for a little bit, it melted, and the temperature DROPPED. It started to snow more gathering about 2 inches and then it turned to freezing rain by midday on Tuesday. My work closed down early due to the worry of having kids get stuck at the center and we were all sent home at 3pm. It took me 15 minutes just to try and get ice off my window enough to see out my windshield... GUH! On the way home I was sliding all over the place, here, there, EVERYWHERE. What is normally a 5 minute drive took me 20 minutes to get home. The freezing rain didn't stop until midnight when it then started to downpour snow again. Which then didn't stop until wednesday at noon. There was a total of 12 inches in places in my yard and when the sun finally peeped out, my camera started calling my name for an adventure :)

Don't get me wrong, I ADORE the snow :D Especially when i can get a day off work ;) what made me mad was they didn't give Paul (my hubby) the day off work since he does night shift so he had to drive the whole way there in the freezing rain, ice, and 6 inches of snow. Trying to convince him otherwise, he was dead set on going to work. *shrug* But today, we had a fun little adventure taking pictures of the winter wonderland all around.

Down the end of my street theres an old factory that we can't quite figure out if its still running or not. Train tracks pass this factory and we used these tracks to get into a hidden waterfall located in the woods behind all the houses. Its quite scenic and if you were normal, it would be the last thing you would think to find in West Chester, Ohio.

On our way home, a train ended up going by but I missed the engine of the train... but I did capture the rail cars with the old chimney stack from the factory in the background...and I have to admit the shot reminded me of one Dominik would take. Think so? ;)

Well, I better get some sleep. I have 2 days left at my job where I work as a preschool teacher for Pre-K kids. I'm leaving the place after working for a year to become a full time photographer and most of the people there aren't happy about it but oh well. You live once and I'm not about to let someone else run my life for me... Good Night! And enjoy the rest of your week.

Stay Warm! [if covered in 1948793847619876 inches of snow]
