On my recent trip to England, we stayed at my in-laws house in a village
called Sturry which is outside of Canterbury. I've loved Canterbury
since the first time I ever visited! There is so much history that goes
back to even the Roman days! In one of their bookstores, you can go into
the basement of this store and there are preserved tiles from a Roman
bathhouse that used to be part of the bustling streets of the city. The
famous cathedral (which is over 1000 years old) stands in the old city
center and an old castle that is now in near ruin. Part of the original
city wall still stands but half of it got destroyed during WW2. Funny
that they missed the giant cathedral in the middle when you really think
about it. I didn't get any good pictures of the cathedral this trip
because I got some great ones last time. Plus, you have to pay to get
through the gate that gets you up close!
But here are a collection of photographs I got walking around the city
when I was able to. If you are friends with me on facebook, you have
already seen a lot of these :)
